Dresses for Haiti Dresses for Haiti created by Elena Guzman, Michelle Gomez, and Vanessa
Velazquez. The organization was created with a simple idea and a drive
to make that idea a reality. We began our journey at the High School of
Fashion Industries, where we learned and developed our skills in
designing and constructing garments. We continue our journey with this
organization. We all attend CUNY schools as full time students and we
are active in our communities and women rights projects. We
came up with the idea for this organization when we heard what was
going on in Haiti. It is such a tragedy that we are desperate to help
and we decided to start an organization where we and everyday people can
help those in need. We design clothing ourselves that will in turn be
sold online to the public and the proceeds will be sent to help those in
need in Haiti. Our idea for this organization is to have
many different designers of all different styles and ages to get
involved in designing dresses with us as well. We also want to give
young designers a spotlight and a chance to get their designs out there
while also helping those in need.

Temptress Jewelry Designs and Dresses for Haiti Partnership
After
the earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010 our designer Regine DeBerry
knew that she had to find a way to get involved with the relief
efforts. Regine being a first generation Haitian American felt the devastation hit close to home with family and friends being effected
directly by the January 12, 2010 earthquake. In April 2010 Regine
DeBerry spoke to Vanessa, Elena, and Michelle from Dresses for Haiti.
After their meeting they both agreed to work together in a partnership
to help the people of Haiti. That is when the partnership of Temptress
Jewelry Designs and Dresses for Haiti was born.
